What jobs did you hold before coming to Parsons? My professional life had no connection to design before Parsons. For six years I lectured in economics at the London School of Economics and at the Singapore Institute of Management. I also worked as a management consultant in corporate strategy and finance. What was your first job after Parsons?I began to get my first jobs as a freelance graphic designer during my final semester at Parsons, one of which was with the Chelsea Art Museum. Now I am the development director for the museum, where my responsibilities range from fundraising to strategic planning, from budgeting to public relations, and from designing promotional materials to finding new people who support our work. What’s the best part of your current job? There are so many things that I like about my job, but I particularly enjoy the broad range of tasks, the chance to meet fascinating personalities from all over the world, and the combination of art, design, and management. What do you think is the most exciting trend in your field today?Globalization—it has unlimited sources of inspiration for me. If you could take any designer in history out to dinner, who would it be and why?Martin Solomon, my typography instructor, to thank him for his inspirations and for being the most giving teacher. What was your most influential class?Painting. It truly broadened and freed my mind. Leare more about Parsons The New School for Design. |
